History OF Tamil Toastmasters Club
A
BRIEF HISTORY OF TAMIL TOASTMASTERS CLUBS IN DISTRICT
51 AND IN TOASTMASTERS INTERNATIONAL
Credit for the first-ever Tamil
Toastmasters Club to be chartered, worldwide, went to District 51 – when the
Singapore Tamil TMC was established on 21st September 2001.
When Singapore was re-aligned in 2003
to District 80, the pride of being the oldest established Tamil TMC in District
51 was then inherited by the Penang Muslim League Tamil TMC, chartered in June 2004.
This was followed swiftly by the Penang Tamil TMC, and then by the YMSC Penang
Tamil TMC in June 2008.
In February 2008, a team of five from
the Tamil Clubs in Penang galvanized a Demo Meeting in KL –
and this resulted in the formation of the Tamil Toastmasters Club, Kuala Lumpur
(TTC KL) in June 2008…which then led to the rapid formation of six other Tamil
Clubs within the Klang Valley, namely:
VIS
Tamil TMC Shah Alam - June
2009 Senthamizh Roobam Tamil TMC
Kuala Lumpur - March 2011 Tamil Toastmasters Club Petaling Jaya - April 2011 Lavangam Tamil TMC Klang - June
2011 Anbu Tamil TMC
Petaling Jaya - June 2011 Jeeva Gaanam Tamil TMC Petaling Jaya - June 2011
TTC KL also spearheaded the formation
of the JB Tamil TMC in June 2010.
From District 51, TTC KL then helped
in the formation of the Jubali Tamil TMC in Saudi Arabia in October 2011. And
this was followed by the Jeddah Tamil TMC in January 2012.
There are now – as at March 2012 - 16
Tamil TMCs worldwide, with 10 of them in District 51.
The goal is to have 16 active and
vibrant Tamil TMCs in District 51 by April 2013; and at least 32 worldwide by
that same time.
